IESE Business School is the graduate business school of the University of Navarra. Founded in 1958 in Barcelona where its main campus is located, IESE 1963 allied with Harvard Business School (HBS) and launched the first two-year MBA program in Europe. IESE is today one of the world’s leading business schools, with campuses in Barcelona, Madrid, Munich, New York, and São Paulo. IESE offers Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive MBA, and Executive Education programs that have regularly ranked among the top 10 in the world. IESE is an initiative of the Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. Internationalization has formed part of IESE’s strategy from its earliest days. The IESE MBA is a 15 or 19-month MBA program based in  Barcelona, Spain. It also has overseas location options. It ranks 10th globally in the Financial Times Global business school rankings.

The MBA cohort typically represents a wide array of industries and professional backgrounds, providing a truly global learning experience.

The industry experience of students, before joining is also diverse, ranging from consulting, banking, and financial services to fashion and performing arts. About 85% are international or non-Spanish students.

The average work experience for the full-time MBA is 5 years which ensures that students contribute richly to classroom learning by bringing forward their varied industry experience Peer-peer learning beyond the classroom is also facilitated through this.

Orientation Week – You will spend a week on campus in Barcelona getting to know your classmates and engaging in team-building activities. You will meet your faculty and start to get to grips with the case method – a core learning tool in your MBA. Your Orientation Week sets you up for the academic challenges that lie ahead and ensures that you and your classmates have a strong and shared knowledge base.

Year 1

Your first year is an immersion in business essentials. And it’s intense. You will work through a solid 24 core courses as you build foundational knowledge, hone new competencies, and forge ties, friendships, and your business network.

Term 1- Nine obligatory courses make up the first term of your MBA. Click on the titles below to find a brief description of each course.

Term 2- You will take eight intense courses during the second term and consolidate core competencies.

Term 3- Term three takes you through nine core courses, including the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurial, Operations Strategy, and Management.

Year 2

Students design their second year and dive deeper into their chosen business interests by choosing from a broad range of elective courses. Combine these with an Overseas Module. Or build your international knowledge and experience in our Global Exchange program.

The Capstone Project (TFM) puts IESE MBA students in the driving seat to solve real-world business problems in real companies.

You’ll come face to face with challenging, integrative problems that require a general management perspective, and are global.

  • Previous projects have included:
  • Designing a product launch.
  • Entering a new market.
  • Designing a social media strategy.
  • Assessing the succession plan in a family business.


Each year, IESE  achieves high employment rates over 94% of each MBA class. 

The return on investment is huge given a mean alumni salary after graduation of €87,613 and a signing bonus of €50,480.

GMATExecutive Assessment, or GRE score

• TOEFL/IELTS if the following are not met

  • For those whose mother tongue is English.
  • Have obtained a university degree or post-graduate degree entirely in English or in an English-speaking country. For a post-graduate degree to qualify, it must be at least a 2-year degree.
  • Have lived and worked for at least two consecutive years in an English-speaking country (i.e. someone who is working for a multinational firm in France where the language of communication is English, for example, is not exempt.)
