What’s New in the Duke MBA Application for 2022–2023

  • New Academic Concentration –

Fuqua school of business offers specialised concentrations as a part of curriculum to deepen the education experience for students. These optional concentrations allow students to specialise their education and further refine the business and leadership skills they feel are critical to their intended career path.

A new concentration “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” has been introduced to help students gain skills to navigate a diverse workforce. Students learn specific business practices that support equitable hiring and promotion, and that create inclusive environments.

  • Reapplicant Interviews

Fuqua will no longer offer a separate interview period if you’re reapplying from the previous year. Instead, reapplicants are encouraged to interview during our Open Interview Period.

  • Interview Formats & Application fee waiver

The school will continue to offer both on-campus and virtual interview options during the Open Interview Period and for interviews by invitation after each round. Fuqua has added the opportunity for Duke alumni who are applying to any of its graduate business programs to receive an application fee waiver.

  • Additionally, Fuqua will ask MBA applicants to record a video pronouncing their first and last names to ensure that they pronounce the name correctly throughout the application process.

Ross New Essay Questions and Updated Standardized Test Policy

  • Career goal essay has been splitted into two parts –
  • Option to submit standardized test or evidence of academic readiness –

All candidates would be required to either submit a standardised test score (GMAT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT, PCAT, or DAT) or evidence of academic readiness for the Michigan Ross Full-Time MBA as part of the admissions application.

If you choose the option to demonstrate your academic readiness without a test score, you will be required to respond to this prompt:

Please demonstrate why you are ready to meet the academic rigor of our program. (200 words)

The school points that

Test scores provide an additional, relevant data point for the admissions committee to consider in reviewing your application as part of our holistic process. A strong test score can strengthen an applicant’s candidacy, and around 80% of last year’s class submitted a test score.
