About the McGill MBA

McGill University is a well-known institution of higher learning in Canada and one of the world’s premier universities. The Full-time MBA Program 

The full-time McGill MBA program is designed for students in their mid-career who want to advance to a higher level of leadership within their business or for students who want to use their McGill MBA to forge a new career path in a new nation.

McGill students can select between the 48-credit (MBA General) and 54-credit (MBA Internship) programs. The difference in credits is according to the amount of time spent in the internship. The 48-credit curriculum may be finished in a year. The 54-credit program takes 20 months to complete, while many students complete it in 16 months.

The tuition fee for McGill’s MBA program is CAD $99,500. The living expenses per year are estimated at CAD $22,695.

The Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship at McGill University is the University’s entrepreneurship hub, collaborating with over 11 colleges to provide high-quality programs to companies at every stage of their development, from idea through investment-readiness. Experiential learning

  • 10-day international trip –
    • Students participate in an organized study trip outside of Canada and visit significant international business destinations
    • They explore the issues to be considered when an organization enters a new, foreign market and learn through on-site company visits, meetings with senior executives, classroom settings, workshops and seminars
    • Experiential learning takes place in classes located in foreign destinations and includes presentations, group projects, and field surveys and close interaction with company representatives abroad
  • Internships 

An internship gives students hands-on experience and significant industry knowledge. The Career Services team assists students in selecting the profession and specific organization that best meets their interests, talents, and career ambitions. Following a selection procedure, students begin an internship that will allow them to apply what they have learned in the classroom.

Summer 2021 Internship Statistics

  • Exchanges 

McGill students who participate in the international exchange program get knowledge of another country’s socioeconomic, commercial, and cultural surroundings while receiving academic credit. This is achieved by spending one semester of the second year of the MBA program studying at a premier institution in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, or the Americas.

  • Practicum: Students complete a specialized project under the guidance of an accomplished faculty member. 
  • Case Competitions –  Desautels graduate students hone their skills in critical and creative thinking and problem-solving by participating in international case competitions such as the McGill International Portfolio Challenge (MIPC) and Retail Innovation Challenge. 

Specializations – Students can customise their courses to their individual job objectives and interests by pursuing specializations. Students can select from more than 50 management electives courses, and they can even pursue an individual research project in partnership with a faculty member.

Career Advisors and Coaches

There are numerous full-time career coaches in the Desautels MBA program. Students are allocated a coach at the start of the program and begin working with their coach right away to create a clear picture of their skills and goal career path. Coaches continue to interact with students throughout the program, assisting with essential professional development curriculum learnings and offering individualized feedback and encouragement.

Stream Advisors

Students have access to outside oriented stream advisors in multiple functional areas, in addition to their full-time coaches: Corporate Strategy and Consulting, Marketing, Business Analytics/Technology, and Finance. Stream advisers spend a significant amount of time connecting with companies in order to better understand their employment requirements and industry trends. Stream advisers provide this information to Desautels Career Management and consult with students directly to enhance their professional preparation and job search plan.

Professional Development Programming

Desautels Career Management has created and executed a complete MBA professional development program that includes psychometric testing, skill-building seminars, and online resources, all of which are reinforced and supported by one-on-one coaching.

Curriculum elements include:

  • Tools and resources for identifying target career paths
