Projects and Application

Strategy Projects At Nanyang (SPAN) is an educational collaboration between industry partners and Nanyang Business School that facilitates application-based learning. By opting to undertake a SPAN project, students have a unique opportunity to work with organizations on live strategy consulting projects. Starting in the first trimester, and working in diverse, cross-functional teams of 5 to 6 members, MBA participants spend 30 to 40 weeks, from conceptualization to execution under the guidance of a faculty professor, developing innovative yet practical solutions to address challenges and issues and also assessing opportunities for businesses and organizations. Students work on the SPAN project in parallel to the course curriculum.

Leading People Globally is a course that aims to give participants a both theoretical and practical understanding of what is required to lead people in organizations, whether locally or globally, where cultures and practices may be similar or different.

Through this course, participants gain a deeper understanding of organizations’ perspectives on talent management and how some of them use HR processes to ensure the execution of business strategy. The topics covered under Leading People Globally are leadership, negotiation, talent management, and cultural intelligence.

The Business Study Mission (BSM) is an international business trek that seeks to enrich students’ knowledge of doing business in Asia through company visits and seminars conducted by industry experts. Participants study particular segments of business/industry and/or corporate/government entities to gain insights and learn relevant best practices. This program is designed to expose students to global problems and business patterns and for them to develop an international network. Some of the BSM destinations are Argentina, Myanmar, New Zealand, Japan, China, and South Africa.

Apart from this, several cultural and sports events such as the ‘MBA Olympics’ and ‘Spring Wine Tasting’ are organized by the professional and cultural clubs of the school on campus.

Each year, NBS achieves high employment rates in excess of 95% of each MBA class. Since the program is a 1 year MBA, the return on investment is huge given an average alumni salary 3 years after graduation of USD 100,236.

Technology and Consulting emerge as the 2 industries in which the majority of the class is placed. Close to 50% of the class goes to these industries post MBA.

Because of the focus on technology, most of the students proceed to join companies in this sector, including top employers like Amazon, Apple, Dell, Microsoft, Shopee, and Tata Communications. Outside of technology, students join esteemed Consulting and retail firms such as BCG, Deloitte Consulting, EY, GE, Hilti, McKinsey, P&G, PWC, and Shopee.

This infographic shows the break-up of post-MBA industries.
