Course Curriculum Summary

Schulich full-time courses are offered on the Keele Campus, and first-year courses are also available full-time downtown. There is an emphasis on student involvement and participation in the classroom, and on practical managerial application. Many courses involve real-time, real-life, in-company projects of one sort or another.

There is no overall teaching format, as the organization, pedagogy, and style of classes are determined solely by the most effective way to teach a particular course. Many course instructors make extensive use of case studies, while others do not. Other approaches to delivering courses include in-class presentations, role-playing exercises, and visiting speakers and business leaders.

The normal full-time load is nine to 15 credit hours of courses per term (maximum course load is 18 credit hours per term). The program length requires a minimum of 16 months over four consecutive terms; an average of 20 months with summer off; or a maximum of 24 months over six terms. There is also an accelerated option where students can complete their studies in 12-18 months.

Strategy Field Study

The Strategy Field Study, also known as the ‘601’ is the culmination of the Schulich MBA program. This eight-month project involves a team of six or seven top business students from diverse backgrounds conducting a comprehensive strategic assessment of all functional areas within an organization, as well as the external environment that a company faces. Each team gains the benefit of a Faculty Advisory Panel providing cross-functional oversight and guidance that combines academic expertise and real-world experience.

Advanced Standing (AS)

If you have received a BBA or BCom from a Canadian university (within ten years of graduation) and have 2 years of post-degree work experience, you may qualify for the Accelerated MBA. The Accelerated MBA reduces the total required MBA courses from 60.00 credit hours to 30.00 credit hours. This is the result of the awarding of advanced standing for all 5000-level core courses. The Accelerated option enables you to complete your MBA in as little as 8 months.
