The core curriculum is the foundation of learning in the Tuck MBA program, intentionally designed to develop the functional skills leaders need to make decisions; the tools to gather and analyze data; and the leadership ability to craft, communicate and execute a vision for change with and through others.

Tuck’s integrated core curriculum provides rigorous coverage of key functional areas and disciplines with courses that build on and complement each other: analytics, corporate finance, capital markets, managerial and global economics, marketing, organizational behavior, strategy, communications, and operations. Students who have extensive previous backgrounds in a particular discipline may be exempt from a course and take an elective course in its place.

With the core curriculum as a foundation and more than 100 electives to choose from, Tuck’s elective curriculum gives students the flexibility to chart their path.

Independent Study

Most second-year students use Tuck’s independent study option to customize their educational experience, another benefit of our small scale and curricular flexibility.

Independent study projects are grounded in the established fields of management but cover a remarkable range of topics. Each study must be approved and supervised by two faculty members and graded at its conclusion.

OnSite Global Consulting (OnSite) 

It is a second-year MBA elective course through TuckGO offering professional quality consulting services to a host of clients worldwide, and an extraordinary experiential learning opportunity for students.

Tuck students have put their management skills and business expertise to the test in a global context on more than 247 projects for 175 clients in 64 countries, with remarkable outcomes for students and clients alike.

Global Insight Expeditions (GIXs) 

They bring together students and faculty in experiential courses that take place around the world. GIXs help students develop cultural awareness, empathy, and agility through structured reflection on experiences in countries new to them. Each course begins with classroom sessions on Tuck’s campus. Students then spend March break traveling with one or two faculty members outside the U.S. During travel, students engage with corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, community leaders, government officials, and local people from different walks of life.
